Edna how come you only post in this thread its seems strange to have nearly all your 112 posts in here0

I'm even more guilty Antispam.
Fair point Edna, and as I have already shot my mouth off once before I had thought properly, I'll go over the reports again.
It won't alter my intentions, but if there is any doubt, it's worthwhile establishing the facts. If someone corrects me I can cope with the concept that it's not a personal attack, and I hope others will feel the same way, if someone expresses a contrary opinion.0 -

Antispam, look at my joining date. I am usually elsewhere, but this particular issue angered me, and I took part. Now, if there are other threads on this forum that you think I may be able to offer any sort of support on let me know, and I will try and participate.
There are many issues out there and most of those I am involved in are not on MSE, because it is not the right forum for 'em
I hope that clears things up.

Yes I know you came on to add to this topic back in December but just seems odd you only want to contribute here and no where else.
Why ask this "if there are other threads on this forum that you think I may be able to offer any sort of support on let me know" seems odd thing to say are you a journalist?

Okay this is the Trading Standards report from here

Latest statement from Dorset County Council's trading standards, Thursday 8 January 2009
Divisional trading standards manager Ivan Hancock said:
"Members of the of accounting and consulting firm Grant Thornton UK LLP have met with Victor Mears (the sole director of Lapland New Forest Limited). Mr Mears has asked Grant Thornton to take steps to place his company into Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation ( effectively close down the company and handle any claims).
"We understand that two partners at Grant Thornton will be appointed as joint liquidators in due course. Once they have control of the company, customers will have the opportunity to lodge a claim against Lapland New Forest Limited.
"Grant Thornton have advised us that they will be giving formal written notice (including a claims form) to all customers who booked tickets online (this is the majority of people who bought tickets). For those customers who didn't book online or who do not receive formal notice in the post, the proceedings will be advertised in two local newspapers with full contact details.
"Grant Thornton hope to issue their formal notice within two weeks but cannot guarantee this. As soon as they do this, we will also place all the relevant information on our website dorsetforyou.com. If you have any queries on claiming against Lapland New Forest Limited, please contact Consumer Direct on
"Trading standards is continuing to fully investigate the matter and will take any appropriate legal action against individuals involved with the limited company."

I presume this this is a creditors' voluntary liquidation, and the procedure is detailed here with the timetable and time limits

The company passes an extraordinary resolution to say that it cannot continue in business because of its liabilities and that it is advisable to wind up.
The resolution must be: - advertised in the Gazette within 14 days; and
- sent to the Registrar within 15 days.
7. Does the company have to advertise notice of the meeting?
Yes. The meeting must be advertised in the Gazette and in two newspapers in the area where the company has its principal place of business.

It appears therefore, from that statement that the creditors' meeting is likely to be in a minimum of 3 weeks, as GT have to give a weeks notice to creditors.
I could be interpreting it incorrectly, and won't be upset if anyone corrects me, but I am trying not to be wrong again.

I would have thought that I made it clear, I have never suggested that I only wish to contribute here, hence my honest question:Yes I know you came on to add to this topic back in December but just seems odd you only want to contribute here and no where else.
I don't think that odd at all. No, I am not a journalist and if I where of what consequence is that? Why ask this "if there are other threads on this forum that you think I may be able to offer any sort of support on let me know" seems odd thing to say are you a journalist?
Seek and you will find. What issues on other sites.0 -
I was curious why you only contribute in here apart from odd post
When I said contribute here I meant this thread mainly.
I asked whether your a journalist as you seem to have such a keen interest in this only and no where else.
I just find it strange even if you were a victim why you seem to spend most of the posts about 99% on this one threadI would have thought that I made it clear, I have never suggested that I only wish to contribute here, hence my honest question:

Too many Victor Meldrew moments in one night has made me tired, so goodnight to all. Tomorrow is boom or bust for me, apart from those lucky enough to get their chargebacks through, between now and the creditors' meeting.
I've made my article/message funny and vicious all in one to make it as readable and attractive as possible. A little more editing should make it fit for purpose - a banking parable for our time.
It defies belief that those responsible should so readily reach an easy accomodation that leaves just the innocents in the lurch.0 -

As I said, this particular issue piqued my moral conscience. Is it wrong to take on a cause celebre? After all, we cannot take on all the issues as our hobby horses.
I fail to see why my having a keen interest in a particular issue should lead to any thought of me being a journalist, in fact would the reverse not be true? A journalist is more likely to be scouting around all the threads for a bit of tit-tat to turn into a story, rather than taking one issue to heart, I would have thought.I asked whether your a journalist as you seem to have such a keen interest in this only and no where else.I just find it strange even if you were a victim why you seem to spend most of the posts about 99% on this one thread
As I have previously mentioned, this is just one forum of many, the fact that I am engaged in one thread on this particular forum has no particular relevance to anything, I can assure you. If you find that strange, so be it, but the issues I wish to discuss on fora are my business and my business alone. If it so happens that this is a thread I am engaged with on this forum and do not engage in other threads what is the oddity or strangeness? I initially thought your subliminal message was that I should possibly be involved in other threads on this forum, and to that end I asked you if this were so.
It is simple as that. No more, no less.

I just find it strange why you find it strange but it would be even stranger if I kept harping on about all this strangeness as you so strangely seem to wish to do because I took the view that Edna, like others, was posting in the true spirit of kindness to strangers so I'll desist from any further posts that strangely stray from the point of this thread and hope you won't find it too strange if I suggest that it would be appreciated if you did likewise. Thanks.0
