I was planning to switch to O2 over the weekend as my madasafish contract expires in 10 days.
It was my birthday yesterday and was pleasantly surprised this morning by e-mail from O2.They offered me a free broadband for an year,12 month contract and paying £7.50 after the year.I phoned them up and signed up in less than 5 minutes.
So free Broadband for an year, great!See below:

Free O2 Home Broadband for 12 months.
Happy Birthday to you. And us.
Hi Julia,
It's our birthday. And it's yours. So to celebrate, we'd like to give you our standard O2 Home Broadband package free for 12 months. It's worth £7.50 a month including unlimited downloads and free 24/7 UK based customer service.
All you have to do to claim it is call us on 0800 954 1407 quoting your promo code ********. You'll need your bank details (don't worry, the first 12 months are free, but we need these details to set you up) and your MAC code, which your current provider will give you. An O2 advisor will do the rest.
Many happy returns.

I've been an O2 monthly paying customer for 3 years. How did they know it is your bithday this week? Did you register with them?
I've registered online last year as it's much easier to check remaining minutes, bills etc.
They must have everyone's details even if people don't register online.(Address, bank details and so on)0 -
