Ah; but is it any good????

Just noticed that Robert Dyas are doing some pretty good deals at the moment, including a Vax Integra carpet cleaner, V126 model, reduced from £199.99 to £69.99. Before I rush off clutching my hard-earned though, does anyone know if this machine is actually any good? I seem to see mixed reviews on some carpet cleaners, and no matter how cheap, if its not up to the job, its not a good deal. Answers on a postcard, please.....

    Hello,

I bought one of these last week...I have cream carpets throughout and 2 children under 5 (you can just imagine!)...now the carpets are like new! (well how they should be at 6 months old)

Ive never had a washer that works so well I thought it was a really good buy, you also get a bottle of shampoo aswell however if you have a large space to cover (we done our lounge dining room and hall) you may need an additional bottle.

The main machine itself never quite got rid of the bad marks however the attachment is soo quick and easy to use and marks come off straight away.

    I would def recommend.

    Hope this helps!

That's interesting. You have obviously tried others, so are in a position to compare. Two toddlers and a cream carpet! Your an optimist, that much is clear!

Full reviewMy review is about the VAX V126 upright vacuum cleaner, with carpet wash and spot clean feature.
I bought this Vax model from a catalogue the end of last year we don't have many carpets but the couple we do have had a few stains and our old vacuum cleaner was slowly falling apart after many years of ownership.
This one was recommended for pets and carpet stains by the catalogue we purchased it from. It's a 6000 watt powered cleaner with 2 litre water holder for clean water and a 2 litre water holder for the dirty water once it has been through the cleaning process and is bought back off your carpet. When these are full it turns itself off this is some form of safety feature to stop the machine over flowing and getting water into the system.
This Vax is rather heavy but still easy to manoeuvre around the floor all though I find it easier to clear the floor of furniture first if you are doing a full clean as this is the easiest and way and the way I have got the best results from doing so.
It does bring the carpet up really clean but unfortunately leaves it damp for sometime it does get quite a lot of the water/dirt from the floor but I feel there is room for improvement in this feature. I cannot compare this to others as I have never owned a carpet cleaning machine previously.
It is easy to operate with foot controlled button for quick easy use around the room, the handle is easy to hold and guide around the room.
When it is not in use it fits away tidy in the pantry and does not take up very much room with a reel in cable that is safe from being damaged or stretched.
It came with some cleaning fluid supplied and more cleaning fluids are readily available from supermarkets at various prices for different qualities and quantities.
It also came with a 5 year guarantee that I have not yet had to use and an instruction book that I didn't really need to use but looked to have quite a lot of helpful information there was also a helpline if there were any problems that went wrong with it that they might be able to help you with.
I paid £250 for this machine which I don't see as extremely expensive compared to some that other people sell all though it is probably not the best as it does leave the carpet damp sometime. I think it can be bought for cheaper online though which I think would make it then better value for money than what I originally paid for it.
All it all it is a good carpet cleaner and the carpets we have used it on do come up really well and even removed stains that could not be got out by hand, the spot cleaner is also very useful for the little accidents around the house but it's a really big downfall that we then have to wait for it to try otherwise you end up with wet feet.
