Tesco's online shopping - password

I rang Tesco today as I had a query on one of my orders. There was a problem with a quantity ordered and delivered. I had an email from Tesco confirming my order and quantity, however he disputed this and asked for my password to go into my account to check the order details shown there.
I refused. Has anyone else been asked this? If so did you give it?

Good grief no!!! If your card numbers are stored for future orders, someone could have made an order up in your name, added the new address to the address list and they could have had shopping on you this christmas. I think you were very wise!

That's what I thought too Judi. I don't store my numbers for future use as I trust no system. However that's not to say they couldn't access them.

They don't need your password to access your account to check orders, as these are visible on their screen when they log in your post-code and name!!!

This sounds very dodgy to me and if I were you I'd give them a call and report that one of their employees was requesting your password! I don't suppose you got his name? ... although if you know the date and time of your call it should be lodged in their system who you spoke to.

  • Tesco must be having a bad week this week. I ordered some wine last week, had a £10 off a £50 spend code which took the bill from £64 to £54. Got it confirmed on e-mail to me that it was £54 showing the reduction of £10.

They delivered it on Monday, charged me £64 and put a note on the delivery saying my online code had failed. I e-mailed customer services on Monday, no response yet. On Wednesday I called customer services, they said they would look into it and call me back. No response yet, it was two days ago I spoke with them. It's very poor for Tescos.

They did explain to me on Wednesday when I spoke to them that they had e-mailed me another discount code, I said that wasn't good enough as I was only ordering the wine online for xmas and probably wouldn't do that again for another year. When I checked my e-mail, the code they had e-mailed me was £10 off a £150 spend on wine. Are they having a laugh????
  • i have had a nightmare with tesco online lately. . to cut a very long (and expensive... ) story short...the moral learnt is:
confirm everything about delivery with tesco and the manufacturer when ordering electricals that dont come straight from tescos warehouse...
