Just a thought about "what's hot":

There is NO WAY that those searches are what people genuinely search for, have you considered that there is e.g. not a single name that comes up? Of course real people would also search for celebrities, films, pop groups etc etc. What comes up is just related to merchandise, holidays, finance, broadband i.e. JUST WHAT JOHN LEWIS DOES! It must be sponsored by them!

So I am afraid that there is probably no way of influencing it...

My theory about the 'What's Hot' button is that Microsoft/Thin Martian/John Lewis must get commission for every search done, therefore I would say it's in their favour to have a quick and easy way of searching?

Also explains why they seem to love compers, as we're crazy enough to sit constantly clicking praying for a win! :rotfl:

Am I in the minority here who suspected all this before it even started....................you don't seriously expect them to just give stuff away do you? They have to make money somewhere and if it's stuff John Lewis sell, you could look at it as them giving you ideas what to spend your vouchers on..................I'm gonna be avoiding the kids department though:rotfl:

Ofcourse its sponored by John Lewis but I suspect they only get money if the link from the search engine is clicked through! I don't care who gets money from it as long as I get something too!

I don't care either, but I just don't want people to get their hopes up about being able to influence it! It would have been more fun though...
