It would be possible.
How much effort it would take to implement is another question altogether?
It may be as simple as installing a mod/hack to the software that someone else has already created, or you might have to modify the forum code yourself to implement it which would be a much trickier thing to do.
You would also need to work out how that would work with or in parallel to the current system.
The only people you could really say are the MSE forum developer(s)/techie(s).
So yes, probably one for the site feedback and suggestions board.
