Ive never cooked turkey on christmas day. Its always done on christmas eve and I have sometimes reheated it in the ding! if you dont over cook it in the first place, it doesnt do it any harm to be reheated in gravy! er, and if you DID overcook it...............then reheating in gravy moistens it anyway! a win win situation!

I`m working right up until Christmas including Christmas eve which is when i usually get al the food prepped.

I cooked my turkey yesterday :D

Its now sliced up in the freezer and will be thawed and reheated in time for Christmas dinner, if i didn`t get prepared in advance then there wouldn`t BE any Christmas dinner :p

    Morning all

I am getting the turkey from mum, and going to try and cook it upside down, then slice up and put it in the freezer. We needed I'll then defrost then reheat in gravy. Can see this being the tradition from now on!

I always cook my turkey overnight. Loads of butter and 2 layers of foil, mind you it's always a huge turkey. I found this works fab as you don't have to miss any of the christmas morning excitement with the littlies. I always prepare veg in advance the night before and keep it in fridge, in water if needed.

sounds good to me, it's a pity the slow cooker isn't big enough.

However, on that note, do you think it would be okay to reheat the turkey in gravy using the slow cooker, could probably put it in mum's utility room out of the way, beside the trifle!

just worked out the timings and temps for dinner later and I need to get the turkey cooked and out of the oven about an hour before serving it, so I can get the rest of the stuff into the oven..
How can I keep the turkey warm and safe to serve? Tin foil seems liek the solution but will that cause it to stay at an unsafe (bacteria wise) temperature? should I just - reluctantly - serve it cold instead?
