Why celebrate all that is wicked and wrong in the world by dressing up as witches/devils/vampires and knocking on doors demanding sweets or they'll be pelted with eggs or something?!

Save your money and your kids childhood

I don't see anywhere in the OP where she says son is going out demanding anything, the OP wants a costume

Popped into my Tesco this lunchtime to get a sandwich and I noticed they had a sign up for Fangs at 6p on BOGOF, ideal for little boys.0 -
we've all got costumes and have lots of parties and events lined up. my kids don't knock on doors or frighten people with their costumes, they wear them at organised events.52% tight0

And I applaude those that keep their kids off the street...maybe I just live in a bad area where the kids are all yobs?
Nevertheless, you are celebrating an old Pagan tradition that believed that the dead became a danger to the living and caused sickness and death, so people dressed up as creatures from the underworld to scare the evil spirits away. Do you really want your kids involved in such a wierd and spiritually significant form of 'entertainment'?!
Halloween has just become so commercial it's lost its original meaning, but not original significance. You are opening a door to the occult and sugar coating it with pumpkins and sweets. Halloween is a major date in the satanic calender and loads of ritual killings happen on this day...most of them by mere kids! (teenagers who probably grew up enjoying halloween?)
It may sound like overkill (no pun intended), but it's all real. Google-search halloween killings and you'll see...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. rev, some people can take things too far but hallowe'en itself is not a bad thing. Are the killings anything to do with paganism, or simply taking advantage of a time when costumes are worn and identities can be hidden, doors can be knocked on etc?
My children aren't pagan. I had a pagan friend at uni who told me that since my babies were concieved on hallowe'en they would be children of satan lol!52% tight0 -
Hi Kerry,
Our local ASDA has started discounting their Hallowe'en costumes etc. already. If you have a Poundland near you (sadly I don't but have a friend who does) I'm told they have loads of really good stuff this year.
Have fun!
FE.
TiTheRev, I am not going to debate religion with you - this is not the place - but suffice it to say that there is room in the world for many different beliefs and points of view. The 'occult' as you name it, is not all evil - it is a term nowadays used to cover various alternative beliefs, and Paganism is merely a religion which is not Christian (and actually pre-dates Christianity).
As a child I always had Hallowe'en parties where we dressed up and we went to knock on doors of neighbours who my parents knew (and who were of course forewarned!). We never threatened 'trick or treat' but merely chorused 'happy Hallowe'en' and showed off our costumes (which we had all made) and were given some sweets or treats.
I have not turned into a Satanist or an axe-wielding maniac!
IMO children need to learn about scary things in a safe environment, and dressing up as monsters etc. can help them put this into context.
If you want to get Christian about it - you can tell them that it's followed by All Saints Day - so at midnight all the nasty ghosties & ghoulies are scared away by the Saints......The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
..."Mind yer a*se on the step!"

Celebrating all thats wicked and wrong would be praying to a made up god who so called made such a nice planet that we live on.0 -

So has Christmas. Ask ANY child what 2 things christmas is about and the response will be Santa and Presents. The made up story of jesus wont be part of any child's response (unless of course they have religous nuts like yourself as parents.)
Time to wake up and see religion has no place in the world no more. It's becoming extinct and it's good that it is. It shows we are evolving from the idiots who believed up these made up stories. We can stop letting religion slow down mankinds progress.0 -
