Gym Membership Cancellation! or not!

Hi All,
Can anyone point me in the right direction please
I joined a gym 5 months ago, thinking i would take out membership.
After several signitures and formalities, i became, what i thought was a member of said gym!
Now i wish to cancel the membership, and looking at the paperwork closer, it seems i took out an agreement with a finance company. Looking at this, it says it is non cancelable, which i find strange. Does this mean i have to make a lump sum payment to cancel the 2 year agreement for a gym membership i hardly use.
The gym will not discuss the account, as obviously it has nothing to do with them, and the finance company will not discuss matters over the phone, just by letter !!
Is there anyway i can get out of this?
Hopefully i will get some good advice!

If you've signed a contract for two years, in theory you have to pay it. If you don't want to use it any more, you could try contacting the gym manager and see if you can reach a settlement, but beware - gyms make loads of money because a lot of people sign up then never go and so they'll have their arguments very well honed!
Plenty of threads already about this, e.g. How to cancel a gym membership etc.0
