  • I can't find your orginal post but based on what you've said in this thread I'm guessing you have been diagnosed with BC. I've been there, done that, the t-shirt is a duster and I've got a great pair of plastic fantastic boobs to prove it so if you need any advice, help, need to rant, cry or just talk through worries please don't hesitate. I also have several friends and we have all had different types of recon and none of us are shy about flashing them so if you need to talk through choices we can help out. Also we try to provide 'bosum buddies'. One of us will go with you to appointments if you want and we can give you little tips and hints to help you get through this.
I'm sorry to welcome you to this club, it's one of those clubs where I'd like less members instead of more.

  • Thanks Sandollar. Yes you're right, it's the dreaded BC. I've had the lump and surrounding tissue and a few of the Lymph nodes removed. I'm still waiting for the results to see where we go from here. I had been feeling great after the op and very positive but today for some reason I am feeling really jittery. I suppose once I get the results I'll know what I'm dealing with.
I may well call on you for advice if you don't mind.

    Hi Francophile,

Just wanted to add my support and best wishes to those above. I've worked with all the Consultants in the breast unit and the cancer centre over the years and you could not be in better hands. I know it's easy to say but try not to worry too much - it doesn't change anything and only puts you in worse form.

Also, try the malteser squares in the Cafe Connect if you are sitting around for any length of time!
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

  • An update to let you know i got my results today and they were a lot better than I had hoped for. It hadn't travelled to my nodes so no further surgery required and when my wound has healed (approx 4 - 6 weeks) they will start radiotherapy for 4 weeks. I was so happy I could have kissed the consultant.
My DH was so worked up today before I got my results I thought he was going to have a heart attack. Thank you all for your support and kind wishes. It has been greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear you're results were good Francophile. I have a cousin in her 30's diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and is getting a new form of treatment that is out now. Wishing you a speedy recovery:j
