so worried mercers threatening doorstep

ive had advice from cab after struggling for months that we can only afford to pay 1.00 to our creditors,we owe barclaycard about 700 and have passed it to mercers,they rang asking to increase payments to 5.00 but when we told cab they said say no or the other creditors would expect more too,theyve (mercer)now said in a couple of months it will be passed to another collection agency in my area who will do a doorstep collection.has anyone dealt with these people and does it realy go this far i feel sick with worry.mercer have been really nice over the phone but will not accept offer off cab and keep adding interest and charges they just say pay what uou can afford which i am doing but leave it with this threat of doorstep

Didn't want to read and run, someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon!
I'm sure everyone would agree that you shouldn't pay any more than you have agreed. Have you contacted any of the debt charities for advice? My OH uses CCCS and they have been really helpful, all the nasty phone calls stopped once they realised he was on a debt management plan with them, and they don't charge anything so all the money goes to the creditor.
