hi runny just wanted to ask a couple of questions about mbna, i would have pm'ed you but i thought maybe other people might find the q&a's useful!
Know that you have paid off mbna in a settlement i wondered if they have sent you a letter of confirmation yet?
Also has your credit file been marked accordingly?

Still not paid mine yet as haven't got the money til the end of the month! They have pretty muched called me every other day thou to see if i will still be making the payment! think they are going under or something as seem desperate to get my cash, even offered me the option of 3 monthly installements to pay settlement figure!!

Hi Pink - I am just in the process of clearing my MBNA card - is yours still with MBNA or has it been passed to debt collectors yet? Just wondering if I can negotiate a settlement with them! x

    Hi Pink

I have sent Babbit an email with a link so that he/she will see the message. Hopefully he/she will be online later.
  • thanks h!

yes my debt is still with mbna it has not been passed on to dca. I would say definatley try and negotiate with them as i think they may be in trouble due to current climate as they are offering lots of settlements at the moment and seem to be hounding a lot of people for money! I didnt ask them for a settlement they asked me so maybe you will hear something too!
  • Hi Pinkie

Sorry not been around - things to do, people to see !.

MBNA did send me a confirmation letter saying that debt had now been settled but only as a Short Settlement. They did agree that they would not be selling the debt on and that the matter is now closed.:D I did confirm with 2 debt charities and they both agreed that this was ok to do.

With regards to the credit score on my file, I haven't as yet checked it  , maybe because I'm too worried and don't want to depress myself any further.

As far as MBNA getting into difficulties, I think you may be right, but then again everyone is in the same boat, and I daresay that Flash Gordon will bail them out as he has done with the rest of the financial system.

That's enough waffle at this time of the morning

  • Me again

Just looked at my credit file   .

MBNA have marked the file as satisfactory and it's green. So not quite sure what this means. In most of the boxes along side it, it says Settled, but on MBNA's is states the amount in £xxx which they 'let me off' with (I suppose it's the definition of short settlement). Not sure about the consequences of that though.

HOWEVER, I also noticied that HSBC are racking up the defaults despite me being on a DMP with them (which I'm paying monthly). I did have another whopper debt with HSBC which was paid as a Full and Final Settlement but there is no listing of this whatsoever - how odd?

Anyone explain this to me please.
    thanks x

No, not Flash. MBNA are part of Bank of America - so Georgie Porgie will be bailing them out
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I believe there was a similar post earlier this week - which i responded to, just cant remmeber what it was called.

They aint doing to well (in the uk anyway) - all recruitment has stopped (internal and external), many areas are understaffed and struggling to cope. The company no longers owns the buildings it operates from. it sold them and now rents them back.

Suspicions are that everything is goingto get outsourced abroad and then these offices (where i work) will be shut down
