    Hi poorandindenial,

It is stupid how much we spend on food from supermarkets and those sandwiches and pastas are never healthy, and seeing as I go the gym about 5 times a week I might aswell eat a healthier diet by making my own food at home (well, get my mum to do it! :rotfl: )

Oh to have a slave, mind you not sure my mental health could survive living with my mum again. I love her to bits but if we are together for too long.....

And yes, cheap drinks for you, personally (mind you I am a laydeeeeeeee) I find that wine can give the best level of drunk return on outlay, especially when you stop being fussy  (no more Chablis for me, as for Champagne - hmph)

My next tax is up in Nov so I'll have to pay for it all when I get paid this month, but from then I'm going to save £10 per month. I think you can buy stamps from the post office so that would stop me from dipping into it!

Good idea. What about repairs/mot? I can't remember if you put anything down in your SOA for them? Every year I used to bung it all on the credit card and to be honest it's where a chunk of my debt has come from.. car repairs/mot/service... all things I didn't have the money for when it was due. I now put a bit by every month so when they are due next year, I have something to pay them. Could your Mum look after the money so you can't have it until you can prove you need it?

yeah it soon adds up, got to cut out the expensive drinks of £6 or £7 and go back to the good old pint!!

You could do one pint and then one soft drink/water.. don't join in the rounds/whip just buy for yourself and obviously go out less ;)

Please please dont expect your mum to make your sandwiches for you
there is nothing worse than being taken for granted, she will do them willingly to start with then after a month or so will be sick of it. I'm a mum with a grown up daughter living at home, so been there, done that.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Haha, I don't take her for granted.

I think she is used to it now to be honest! :rotfl:

Last night though I did make my own sandwiches and brought them to work with other food so that is going to save me around £5 today by not going the supermarket! It's a start, just got to keep it up now!

Naomi, my best mate is a mechanic with his own garage so he does most of my repairs and MOTs for free or next to nothing, but it would be a good idea to try and put something away incase any unexpected payments come up.

Hmm, pint and then a soft drink, I'll have to see about that one. To be honest, the soft drinks are about as expensive as the pints where I go out!

Just a thought, your savings might go up but if youre making your own sandwiches etc at home your mums grocery bill is also going to up.

dont forget to buy her a bunch of flowers now and again, she wont mind if they are cheap market ones, its the thought

    Hi Annie,

I will definitely treat my mum to some flowers when I get paid and once I get out of debt I am really going to treat her (pay for a nice weekend away or something). She has really helped me out over the past couple of years, just wish I was as good with money as she is!!

GOOD NEWS PEOPLE! My mum has been offered a job today, as she has been looking because she was made redundant.

Also, I've just reduced my mobile line rental from £50 to £40, and they said next month I could reduce it again! Only a small thing I know but it's a start!!

    Maybe things are looking up!!
