All major lenders have put up the tracker mortgage rates. So much for cheap mortgage. damn! I was planning to get a mortgage but it looks like I would have to wait now.

Oh I don't know firstdirect do a lovely .49 over BOE BR for life.
Just save a little harder and stop moaning.;)0 -
Everyone keeps starting these threads but it is just common sense. Falling market and lowering BOE rate. Great deals available for those with some element of equity (FD +0.49 or 0.79 tracker) but less so for those with little or no equity. Isn't that just good risk management on the part of banks? Exactly what we need to return to, although it comes as a shock because everything has been so lax and now they have woken up and smelt the coffee.
For FTBs sat waiting with litle deposit, isn't it actually helping them? Protecting them for making what the markets are indicating could be a big mistake.
I just wish this was all done much, much sooner.0 -

For mortgages right now you need to be quick off the mark. You might lose if they drop it tomorrow, or might win if it goes up. Nothing is certain right now. Not even the banks know what the rates will be next week right now.0

========================
First Direct:
Tracks the base rate plus 0.49% for the life of the mortgage, currently 4.99%
The overall cost for comparison is 5.2% APR.
(An arrangement fee of £999 applies)
Mortgage funding for this offer is limited and rates can be withdrawn at any time, without notice.
========================
For starters it is for re-mortgage only. With a £1K fee and a warning: "They may withdraw any time without notice". To me it looks like a day light robbery. I don't think this mortgage is for me. I would be happy if they say it is only for 3 or 5 years. Rather then say it is for life but then we will remove it and we won't even bother to tell you. It doesn't feel right.
OR
Maybe I misunderstood what they mentioned.0 -

It would not be funny if you knew what you were on about, but you don't
"They may withdraw any time without notice".
They can't withdraw it when you have got it you numpty but it may be withdrew before you get accepted.:rolleyes:
Still a great rate though and the same sort of rate most HPC buyers will be looking at as they are sensible and saved. just not you!:rolleyes:
Get saving and stop moaning like I said the days of the 100% mortgage are gone.0 -
