The BBC is offering a free copy of the Lonely Planet magazine, a brand new magazine from the travel guide company, when you call 0844 243 9861 before 5 Nov and quote code LPMSE08.
Just give your name and address and you'll be sent a free copy.
Lines open Mon-Fri : 09:30am - 08:45pm and Sat 10:00am - 01:45pm.
Calls to 0844 and 0845 numbers will be charged at 5p per minute from a BT landline at any time and rates may vary for mobiles.
The operator is also likely to offer you a further two copies of the magazine for £1, but you'll need to give credit card details or direct debit details for this (so if you only want the £1 deal, ensure you cancel after). You do not need to do this, or give any payment details, to get the free magazine.
Where's the code from?
This offer was spotted below by MoneySaver debsjc (and elsewhere by vixff), so thanks for the top spot. When we spotted the code we checked with the BBC about the deal and it asked us to use this specific code so it could track how many people asked for the mag. Whilst it's a special code, there is no commercial relationship between MSE and the BBC.
Bank to the original post and thanks to debsjc for the good spot...
I just received this by email this morning, from BBC Magazines -
We’re offering you the exciting opportunity to be one
of the first to sample the new Lonely Planet Magazine
absolutely FREE. There are no obligations or catches,
simply call xxx quoting code xxx to claim your copy today.
When I called they also offered the option of 3 issues for £1, but I just went for the free one. They didn't take any payment details, just my address.

It has been mentioned before, but worth repeating that The Week, an excellent weekly news summary magazine, is free for 6 issues from http://www.besthighstreet.com/magazines.html. You do have to give your direct debit details and cancel if you don't want to continue. I don't think it works with cashback sites now.0

Ordered mine and decided to go for the £1 offer since you can cancel the Direct Debit anytime after they take the £1 payment. 3 magazines for a quid isn't bad and since I'm considering going travelling sometime next year, it might come in handy.
Oh and they said they'd just got a deluge of calls from MSE readers... I said the 5,000 copies wouldn't last long!
Cheers for the tip!

Just ordered one today. I just did the freebie, but if it's anything like the books, we may subscribe.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0

Nice one! I love Lonely Planet and am off to New Zealand in January so this is a great spot :T
I was on the phone for just under two minutes.0 -
I got one too, phone was answered almost immediately and was only on phone for a minute 30 tops! Great find debsjc, and thanks for online subscription too Bobskillip :T
I love travelling!!
EDIT: if you go through Quidco, use Magazine Group for £5.80 cashback and then the first 3 mags are £1, each 12 mags after that (ie a year's worth) are £29. That's £24.20 for 15 magazines - £1.63 instead of £3.50 each

Yes, I got one as well just now, there seemed to be no problem, and it couldn't have taken as much as a minute.0
