Silvercrest DVD player

Lidl are selling a Silvercrest DVD player this month, and it says in the ad:
'records from audio CD onto USB'
does this mean I could record from an ordinary music CD onto a USB MP3 player?
or does it just mean if I had a CD of MP3 files, I could copy them from the CD to the MP3 player?
It would be great if it was the former, I can't get an MP3 player because I haven't a computer (I can't use these ones to transfer music from CD to MP3 player), it's really annoying. I wish there was a gadget that I could play my CDs on and put them onto an MP3 player, other than a computer that costs loads of money! If I was into photography, I could get a digital camera and use a printer dock to print the photos and no need for a PC, but there doesn't seem to be something similar to transfer CDs onto an MP3 player without a computer.

Do you have any information about the model number or where you saw this advertised? Could not see it listed on the specials section of the Lidl website.
Cheers,

It was on a leaflet I got through the door yesterday, which I don't have with me. I did look on the website before I posted, but it's not on there at least not yet. I think it's available from next week, Mon or Thurs.
there wasn't a model no given, or one I could see on the photo. It does say it comes with nero software, which I've never heard of.
I just thought maybe if this was a common feature, or even a new one, someone could help me out.0 -
I think by what our saying, you will still need a computer along the line to get full use0

Audiobore – so you just play a CD on your DVD player, plug in your MP3 player and transfer them? Just like that? Sounds like what I need. I have a DVD player but it doesn’t have a USB port.
Everyone: What I need is a gadget that I can use to transfer tracks from my music CDs onto an MP3 player without the need for an expensive PC cos my tape walkman won’t last forever…
I was just wondering if this DVD player was claiming to do that, cos I’ve never heard of one doing it before.
Poppycat – I’ve not idea what you mean by ‘grabbit’ or ‘grabbit forum’…. I was just searching online for info on the DVD player and came across this site and decided to ask my question cos people were talking about DVD players and their features. Never been here before, and I only had enough time for quick look before I decided to post, thought might as well give it a try. I just asked hoping for an answer that would help. I get the impression I’ve made a mistake but I’ve no idea what it is…no-one else seems bothered so I guess it’s not a big one!

Yes - that's the way these "ripping" players work as I understand it.
You put a normal CD (not a disc with MP3 tracks on), and it automatically coverts the songs to MP3 format and transfers them to the memory stick or MP3 player you've plugged into the USB port on the player.
It looks like a good feature, but I wonder how the MP3 files are named and if there is any tag data.
If you rip a CD with Windows Media Player it will get all the info about the artist, album and track from the internet, but doing it with a DVD player I imagine you just get "track1", "track2", "track3", which would be a pain.
Is that how it works audiobore?
