Company disappeared! what to do next?

Hi,

I bought a dining set on my debit card a few months back.
I tried to contact the supplier - The Pine Warehouse - in Hull for delivery but they appear to have disappeared off the face of the planet.

Nothing on the door, Consumer direct & Companies Hse have them as still active, they are not!
Insolvency service does not have them listed either.

Any ideas on what to do next?

What sort of debit card though, does it have the VISA symbol?

  • can a court claim be started using the relevant registered address, rather than trading address?

before that though, check local press, chambers of comemrce , trading standards etc..to see if any more known..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)
  • Thanks for the Chargeback info - Lloyds asked where i found out about it????
Looks like they want to keep it quiet!
i have to write a letter to their Card Service Dept.

As for the last post, i have contacted all and more. No-one is interested, even Trading Standards? what do they do then??
The local paper have no info but were slightly interested in the story, nothing back yet. The only other avenue is the police, not sure they would care either!
The company started as Northfield Pine down Waterhouse lane which as stones throw from Osborne Street. They rebranded a few weeks ago to Martin & Roberts Interiors then the shop closed.
I even found out about the industrial unit they used as a warehouse, it's currently empty and up for rent.

i would be tempted to stick a note to their old trading address asking for contact ......you cannot be the only person in this boat. Have you tried sending a recorded letter to that address they may have a forwarding set up. They might have "forgot about you". Have you any local forums/websites you can ask for help on?

morgange...depends who you speak with, run of the mill staff are a no no, infact same with some so called supervisors.

We paid over £700 using Lloyds visa debit and the company went into administration, I sent all the details to my banks chargeback section, total refund within the month.

Of course I was told this was never going to happen by all the 'customer service' experts!

Unfortunately I cannot assist you with the details of the actual address I sent all my proof too as I am out the country for a while.
