Does anyone know how to work out the average RPI for my increase in maintenance?

It depends which RPI index is used - there are 4.

The one used for uprating benefits is -1.6% as at June 2009. The September amounts are the ones for which benefits are uprated the following April.

    Here's the full lot:

yes but my question is more to do with the actual calculation of the decrease or increase in spousal maintenance; whether it's -1.57 or -1.6 % is kind of academic, or whether RPI or KPI is also irrelevant (as we are using the RPI from day 1). It's how to calculate the difference.

i.e. x - y / y multiplied by whatever the % increase (either plus or minus) is. If inflation is running at -1.57 % then the question is, does the maintenance therefore decrease by that % which is what I suggested it would.

    Personally I would do 213.4/216.8 - 1 x 100 = -1.5682%, round to 1 decimal point = -1.6%.

Maintenance is supposed to be calculated in strict accordance with the court order, so IMO it would go down.
