Does anyone know how to work out the average RPI for my increase in maintenance?

It depends which RPI index is used - there are 4.
The one used for uprating benefits is -1.6% as at June 2009. The September amounts are the ones for which benefits are uprated the following April.
Here's the full lot:

yes but my question is more to do with the actual calculation of the decrease or increase in spousal maintenance; whether it's -1.57 or -1.6 % is kind of academic, or whether RPI or KPI is also irrelevant (as we are using the RPI from day 1). It's how to calculate the difference. It depends which RPI index is used - there are 4.

i.e. x - y / y multiplied by whatever the % increase (either plus or minus) is. If inflation is running at -1.57 % then the question is, does the maintenance therefore decrease by that % which is what I suggested it would.0 -

Personally I would do 213.4/216.8 - 1 x 100 = -1.5682%, round to 1 decimal point = -1.6%.
Maintenance is supposed to be calculated in strict accordance with the court order, so IMO it would go down.0
