    Hi There
Pls can you help? I have tried using all types of software to recover my valuable photos but with no luck. If I accidentally formatted the card (still kicking myself :( ) and then took 60 new pictures does that mean all my 300 pictures have been permanently lost? I am so desperate I have even bought a card reader and dl 5 different types of software but they just bring up the existing pictures.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I have lost my OH's birthday pics and out holiday pics too :(

    Cheers in advance

    hi,

If you post this on the techie forum you'll get a better response. Some of them over there are a bit moody, but there are some really helpful & nice people on the forum!!

I posted in a panic as I had a problem with the memory card with all my sons pics on from his birth and the first year of his life. I was distraught as you can imagine and it didn't help when one guy picked on me for not typing the exact wording that came on pop ups on my PC and I had attempted to write what it said and put "or something similar" a few times and he made a really patronising reply to it!! I think some of them arn't very tolerant of people who arn't very good at all the computer language, but then someone will come along that is nice!!

My understanding is if you take photos over the top then the spaces will have been overwritten, but you may be able to do something with the other ones.

    Good Luck!

    Luc xx

PS With my sons baby pics it worked out ok in the end, it turns out we had had them prinited ages ago, ane even stored them onto disc but were so sleep deprived we'd forgotten!! :o:o mine was a totally different problem though, something had happened to make my computer card reader go wrong, and it short circuited my memory card, so no fixable. V.expensive getting the PC fixed!!!

    Just downloaded this, thanks.
  • Yep say you had a full memory card of photos, you deleted them and then filled your card full again, you wouldn't be able to access them (unless you have MI5 contacts ;-))

When you delete\format something on your computer through windows you basically only remove the welcome sign or its address book entry for lack of a better expression, the file is still there until its overwritten by another file. You may use or see some secure delete programs, these just write a sequence of files over the old file to ensure that it cannot be traced.
  • If your files have been deleted and you want to get them back you could try using recuva. Download it from:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva/
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
