County Court Claim

I need to issue a county court claim against an ex tenant of mine but don't have his home address. Can I serve papers at his work address or his previous address?

  • I am afraid to say that if you served at his work address or previous address, he could use that as a valid reason for having the judgment removed. It has to be served at his current address.

  • I thought as much but some of the HMCS guidance notes seem to indicate that serving at the previous address is sufficient.Any suggestions from anyone how to find out his new address? Not showing on electoral roll or bt.com and tried googling him to no effect. Think I've located the estate agent that sold his old home but don't know if I can squeeze the forwarding address out of them yet.

Follow him home from work then give him them as he unlocks the door. :snow_grin
  • I've found his home address now so will be able to serve the documents to him there.

    Thanks for suggestions!
