When I met my bank manager the other day she flagged up an alert on my file and advised I get a copy of my Credit Report. I went online today and someone by the name of Credit Account Management have added a default to my report from 2006 that shouldn't exist. I had my report done in January and this default wasn't on it so I don't know where it came from. It shows a debt of £750 which would be an account I had with Kays around that time. However, the goods were bought for a customer who contacted them to inform them the debt was hers but was unfortunately going through a bankrupcy. She submitted the account details to her insolvency clerk. I recieved a letter shortly after from Moorcroft Debt Recovery saying that I owed this money and that they account had been passed to them from Kays Internal Collection Agency. I contacted Moorcroft to inform them I had not been contact by Kays for this debt since my customer had informed them of her responsibility for the debt. They investigated and wrote to say they were passing the account back to Kays agency and would not be pursuing me. Suggesting they had found evidence to back up my complaint. I have still to this day, never recieved any correspondence from Kays or any of their agencies but now appear to have this default which is backdated to June 2006. Can anyone please tell me what rights I have here or how I should go about clearing my credit report.
Sorry for the long thread but I couldn't give the detail of my situation without it.
