does anyone know how long a cra can keep information on your credit file i have an old default which is now over 5 years old and is statute barred as i am in scotland should i ask them to remove it?

Defaulted accounts are recorded for 6 years after the account fell into default.
You can write to the CRAs to ask them to add a note of up to 200 words explaining why information might give a misleading impression if you think this would help

Ooh, now I don't know. I got the info from the experian website - it doesn't say whether it's for england or UK, sorry!0
