Today I got a loan with the AA for £15,000 APR is 5.9% over a 5 year term.
They do go on about payment protection a bit and try to negotiate some sort of cover, but just stick to your guns and insist you don’t want it. Worked out under £300 a month without the protection but was closer to £400 a month with the protection.0 -
Should be able to get a sub 6% loan as long as your total unsecured debt (existing credit cards and loans) are less than 50% of your annual salary.
If you get offered a nasty APR first try have a look at someone like nationwide who offer the same loan rate to all applicants. The extra interest per month is only likely to be a few £'s.
Most loan companies will really want to flog you payment protection insurance - it is the only way they can make any money on rates less than 7%. Just tell them that you have taken out insurance with a broker for a much lower price then they are charging.
Good luck.
