Hi All,
You may have read my other thread about trying to get a short term loan to pay a deposit on a rented flat.
Yesturday I phone Benefical who are the new name for HFC.
They took some details and promised to phone back within the hour but didn't. They then phoned back at 6.30pm while I was out.
I phoned them back this morning and got told that I had been approved for upto £2000 credit last night, but today the company had changed thier policy and stopped taking new customers so they were unable to help me.
Is this normal? and can anyone recommend a company similar to Benefical, who offer credit with flexible repayments to people with a poor credit score.

Hi there Dave.
Sorry to hear you have been messed about.
I have heard of this happening before hun and I think its wrong, but then I assume it was only in the first stages of being approved, am I correct ?
Due to this credit crunch it could be a lot to do with that, but please don't take my answer for it as I may be wrong.....:o
Hopefully someone will come in to help guide you in the right direction here, but have you had the chance to check out this site for the loan you are looking for, above there are a few ads with loans and insurance etc, maybe you could check them out and see if you find anything to suit you there.
Good luck!
Di.

Hiya
I would say you have had a very lucky escape to be honest. I have another thread 'HFC Disaster'. Thet have messed me about so much. I know it's hard when you're struggling to get the credit but believe me, the debt I've ended up with is 3 times more than the original loan I had and the balance is curently going up instead of down. I know it doesn't help your current situation but at least you haven't had it get any worst.
Good luck

We have negotiated to spread the deposit out over a couple of months, so I have avoided getting into debt.
The only problem was that there would be a delay of upto a month before i got my deposit back from my current place. And I have no spare money as I am taking Martins advice and paying anything spare towards debts.0 -
Might be going off on a tangent here but have you considered contacting your local council about a rent deposit scheme. Many of them do it now and even if they can't cover it all they maybe be able to contribute. I'm work in housing so I thought I'd just offer an idea. It would depend on your council. It's also called a bond scheme in some places.0
