Free Internet TV

Hi All, I did a search for this on here, but couldnt find anything. Apologies if its been posted before...

While searching Studentfreestuff.com i came across a link to Free Internet TV. I've had a scan through the channels and it seems similar to freeview...although i imagine the quality wont be very good unless you have broadband.

Have a look and see what you think here

U can also select different countries but not sure whether u can view thrm from the UK. I'll try later as am at work at the mo.

Possibly not exactly free, especially if you are a student looking for TV without needing a license. TV Licensing state that you need a TV licence to watch Internet TV that is being streamed at the same time as it is being broadcast elsewhere. See, Will the telly police be coming for you next? I used to be in favour of the TV license, as a concept. But, if you need a license to access otherwise perfectly legal parts of the Internet, I’ve gone right off the idea. Quite how you’re supposed to know if Internet TV from half way around the world is “live” or not, I don’t know.

Was just a thought Alfie, i would probably use this in my bedroom where i have a very poor signal on terrestial TV. As the house already has a TV licence, the additional channels are infact FREE.

Unfortunately this doesn't help those students in halls who have the frustrating task of having to buy their own TV licence for living in a small room....but for the general public, who will already have a TV licence, i think this is a bit extra.... :o)

They may SAY that, but legally, you don't need a license to stream internet TV. This is currently under review and may well change in the next few years, but if this ever went to court, I think the TV licensing authorities would lose.

All I can see are new bulletins. Can you actually watch real programmes like eastenders etc?

Hi Mebsy, Only just got round to having a closer look, you need to have real player installed to watch the programs, i couldnt see BBC1 but ITV was definately available. U need to click on the button that has the 'stream' rate on it, then a new window opens, you have to click open then it should work.

Still not had time to look at it fully, as have some OU coursework in shortly, and it takes ages to fill in the form to download real player (even tho it is free). So if anyone beats me to it, let me know.

    Regards

    Donna
