it's good to know at least SOME of our tax is going to a worthy cause.

Ah well, its a good Sun story to get worked up about. This is how I see it.

Asylum seeker with seven children is housed by a caring society. All her kids are in full time education. Perhaps they will make something of themselves, and if they work in future they sure will be paying that tax back. I am not overly surprised that a woman with seven children cannot find time to get a part time job, and in any case the benefit system would simply take off every penny she earns against what she currently recevies in credit.

No - I don't see the story as how the Sun has presented it at all.

The real story to my mind is the 12k a month that the council has agreed to pay the landlord. Someone must be creaming off some back handers when that sort of money is going around. How about some decent investigative journalism instead of sensasionalist stories that do nothing to promote our society or values.

Whisper it - but if the councils had built a few houses, instead of sticking squillions away in Icesave, maybe they could be saving 12k a month in a dodgy, and possibly criminal rent agreement. Or moving up the scale maybe the odd billion from the bailout here and there could have been put aside for this purpose.

Agree with all that just that even the largest council houses have 4 bedrooms. Due to overcrowding policy they would still need 2 teraces knocked in to one. But the nationality makes no difference its not the imigants fault, if we don't like it we should tighten up our lax imigration.
