company pension contributions

hi all
newbie so excuse any mistakes the company i work for match my contributions into a company pension scheme eg 3% we have been informed due to current market they are not going to match our 3% just enquiring if this is legal or not thanks for your time

    At the moment the employer can choose to contribute or not unless you have a contract that explicitly states they will pay 3% with no provision to allow amendments.

    From 2012 though it will be compulsary for them to contribute that money as it will for all employers. (or equivalent or higher amount)
