company pension contributions

hi all
newbie so excuse any mistakes the company i work for match my contributions into a company pension scheme eg 3% we have been informed due to current market they are not going to match our 3% just enquiring if this is legal or not thanks for your time

At the moment the employer can choose to contribute or not unless you have a contract that explicitly states they will pay 3% with no provision to allow amendments.
From 2012 though it will be compulsary for them to contribute that money as it will for all employers. (or equivalent or higher amount)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
