Road_Hog wrote:Correct, a lot of people who genuinely wanted one as a Christmas present and who were unable to get one are unhappy at seeing them at up to, twice the retail price on ebay.
And to be honest I can understand their point. It's a free market (I myself am about to take delivery of some good value Dell TFT's) but the difference here is I think, some think that this is at the expense of them and they are in the situation of having to purchase from ebay because of the opportunists. So the very people who have made them have to puchase from ebay are now profiting from them.
But at the end of the day, everyone had the same chance to purchase an xbox 360, so if people missed out then its not anyone elses problem appart from their own.
Personally, id just wait until the initial demand drops, then buy one after xmas. If i was THAT desperate for one, i would have made a bigger effort to get one before hand.0 -
not strictly true - i placed a pre order as early as opssible and still didnt get it yet0

so what's your item number so we can have a look?0

Try selling locally using https://www.adtrader.co.uk
You may find lots of people who don't use ebay or the internet my be interested in buying especially if there are not many for sale in your area. At least there are no ebay fees to pay.
Good Luck

You need to :
a) take a picture of the xbox with a paper showing your ebay username on it. This will proof that you have the xbox, preferably even show the contents.
b) Place a reasonable starting price , say the price you brought it at rather than 99p that way you wont be losing any money if you only got one bid
c) place a bin for a price which you feel is the going price for the xbox360 on ebay, you need to do a bit of research on how much they have sold for, although that may be difficult if prices are fluctuating alot and you have alot of scammers and non payers. Try for a certain % profit and if thay fails lower it.Dont get too greedy and try to compete with other sellers just sell at what you are happy with.
d) Try to envise that you are a geunine seller with a good feedback and will accept paypal which covers buyers up to £500 and willing to provide an further information if required. Personally i would only accept verifed paypal members just to protect myself as well.0 -
i think i will put my username on a picture next (with xbox:rolleyes: ) and maybe add the receipt.

personally, i sold two over the weekend - one for £580, one for £480 - premium packs, as follows...
(1) take a pic, with your username on a piece of paper, and maybe todays date on it too.
(2) 24 hour auction, starting price 99p.
(3) I put my mobile number in the ad so people could phone me if they liked.
(4) Remind people in your ad that you have very high feedback and you are not a here today gone tomorrow merchant.
(5) take a pic of the invoice that you got with the unit, include that too - blanking out credit card details if they are there!
(6) Put on the ad no zero feedback bidders and that you will remove any bids that don't seem appropriate.
(7) State that payment must be made withing 24 hours OR you will leave negative feedback.
(8) explain why you are selling it.
(9) Demonstrate that you will be posting it Royal Mail 24 hr special delivery, and that you will email them the tracking number as soon as its posted so they can track its progress on line.
(10) tell them in the ad the item will be insured to the full value of their bid for postage purposes.
Now i am SURE someone will say 'ahhh, but you can't do this or that...' BUT thats what worked for me. I think people like to see you know what you are doing and know what you want.
Also, check the auction hourly if possible up to the last four hours. After that, every fifteen mins. For the last hour watch it constantly. Keep three other windows open - 'Cancel a bid', 'Block a bidder' and advanced search to see what else they are bidding on. Anyone looks chancey - for example i had one guy was bidding and winning TEN other XBOX auctions - then cancel their bid and block them.
Might be a sledgehammer to crack a walnut BUT as you've found out there are a lot of messers out there when it comes to xbox 360s.0 -

Chompie, I think you are relying too much on your feedback! The main reason people are wary of one-day sales is that they are a favourite of sellers who have hijacked Ebay identities. I think there are some excellent ideas above for helping to demonstrate that you're genuine, though! :rudolf:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
thanks Pgilc1 there are indeed some good suggestions there.
i have done most of what you have suggested in my current listing, but should that fail, i will implement the rest.Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close
