I agree the way to go here is a one day auction with a good BIN price and paypal required. I might even put my phone number in and ask folk to call if they have any questions.
After last nights watchdog I suspect folk are a little wary just now, the more you can reassure them the more likely you will have a successful sale.
Good luck
ps I also agree that anything more than 1 day auction is probably a waste of time. My only caveat would be can you get a 3 day listing on page 1 of the listings. Mind you I have allowed 200 listings per page I wonder how many folk still work on 25? listings per page??0 -
the only problem i have with BIN & bid auctions is, when i have tried them in the past, as soon as someone bids on the item, the BIN price goes
also didn't see the watchdog you are speaking off?
was it about ebayers scamming people with XBox 360's?Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

Decide on the price you will get for the XBox and make the BIN £5-£10 more. Don't start the auction to low thats just a waste of time. You want to catch someone who hasn't the time or the inclination to watch and bid.
You should know the price they are going for so price it carefully.
No the watchdog program was mainly about western union scammers but it just creates a bad impression about EBay in general.0 -
Im a bit puzzled as to what the problem is here. Are you saying people are winning your auction, then turning into non-paying-bidders? If so, leave them negative and try again. Surely if you have 400+ positive feedback, sellers can safely assume you are a genuine ebayer and not some nigerian con-artist who wants you to pay via western union!
People know what price they have to pay to get an xbox360 on ebay, so its a bit off if they are all turning into non paying bidders.0 -
How to price your XBox for BIN sale:-
1. Check market price; in this case the variation is quite big £350 - £450.
2. Decide on the price you want.. (I know as much as possible)
3. Check past auctions and determine when they hit top prices. Is it on a certain day, time of day, when there are less finishing around the same time or when the guys get home !!!!!! from the pub (dangerous strategy this one). Plan auction accordingly. Try and fit in where you see a quiet time.
4. Use a 1 day auction as discussed before, there are 1.75 pages (200 listings per page) of XBox core packs ending within 24 hours...thats a lot!!!
I think I would probably start auction at £430 with a BIN of £4500 -
If people are mistrusting that you might not have it (to be honest I would be if I were on Ebay) why dont you make your picture so that you can prove you have it. After all everyone knows what the new xbox looks like so it isnt about making it look pretty, but making it look as if you genuinely have it. What about if you are listing it on 1day, you take a picture of it with todays paper next to it? So that you can prove it is in your possession.
Maybe out of the box so that you can see everything with the receipt? Perhaps on your carpet or something that doesnt look like an advert of a box! After all you don't need to hide the price you paid, as everyone knows the price they were and are happy to pay a premium to get it before xmas.0 -
my current picture has a picture of Peter Crouch standing proud after scoring goal of the day (24 hours that is)
this was the back of monday's express.
but even with that picture, the last winner wanted me to take a pictureof the 360, with his email address on a peice of paper.
then after that decided he couldn't afford it.
other buyers have wanted to pay by western Union, and one thought the auction was in US $ (even though not available to USA)Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

There are people out there purposely sabotaging ebay auctions because they never got their pre-orders.0

Correct, a lot of people who genuinely wanted one as a Christmas present and who were unable to get one are unhappy at seeing them at up to, twice the retail price on ebay.
And to be honest I can understand their point. It's a free market (I myself am about to take delivery of some good value Dell TFT's) but the difference here is I think, some think that this is at the expense of them and they are in the situation of having to purchase from ebay because of the opportunists. So the very people who have made them have to puchase from ebay are now profiting from them.0
