Companies selling Get-Rich-Quick schemes - For Real or Not?

Hello there,

I am wanting to find out if there is anyone on this site who has come across companies selling schemes on the internet, that claim to give people information on how to make £10,000 in the first year, by using the internet and doing as little as a couple of hours work a day!

The reason I am asking is because I have come across a site (which I won't name because I don't think I'm allowed to) where you buy a package for £50, they then send you information on how to make money by selling inforamtion on the internet, which they claim will make you loads of money. This offer seems too good to be true but the juicy "easy" money carrot looks good.

The man who runs it says he has got 2 houses now, expensive cars and been on exotic holidays since starting this scheme and also says that if you haven't made the £10,000 in the first year he'll refund you the £50.

He also says that it is not a pyramid scheme, or MLM or reselling onto people. The only thing he says it is, is selling information over the internet. He gives his mobile number, his address and email, is contactable whenever you need him, and is registered with small business enterprise. I haven't called him but have sent an email and got a prompt response.

What I would like to know is if anyone has bought into such a scheme and made money or made nothing and been ripped off.

Is it too good to be true or is it for real? Any info that anyone has will be appreciated.

I'll look forward to your replies.

Best regards, Be :xmastree:

Does it really seem plausible?

Making thousands of pounds from a few hours work - if it was that easy don't you think some of these 'schemes' might make it onto the news, or into the newspaper, or onto the radio? Don't you think everyone would be doing it?
  • Maybe I'm naive, but yes it does seem plausible. Information is worth money on the internet - to what extent, I don't know.

I guess I'm still hoping that it is that easy to make money.........

As to it not being on the radio etc....in the contract you have with this chap you are bound not to pass this information onto anyone else. Could that be why?

I'm afraid it isn't. There is a simple trick to tell whether or not any of these are real opportunites:

If they, at any point, ask you to hand over money then it is a scam.

    It's as simple as that.

Exactly the same sort of thing was advertised in places like Exchange & Mart before the internet came along. They would promise all this income, and tell you that they had houses and expensive cars, tell you their life story of rags to riches, and if you wanted the same things all you had to do was to purchase from them sets of "reports" on how to make money which you had to sell on, so they could be sold on, so they could be sold on... and on... Get my drift?

The only people ever to make any money out of this scam were the very first ones in the chain, when the idea was new and thousands of people fell for it. I expect they are still making some money, because most people now have internet access, and there's always plenty out there who have a bad cold and cannot smell a rotting rat...

I looked at a couple of these, and I think they basically sell you info on how to set up affiliate sites for hundreds of different places, so you make a tiny percentage on each sale that goes through your site.

I suppose it's theoretically possible to make good money, but I stayed away from it. The main reason I did so was if this guy is making all this money from his affiliate sites, then why would he encourage competition for a measly £50? Surely he'd potentially lose thousands? I couldn't answer this question without thinking "He isn't making that much, and he makes more selling the info".

They way I see it is this..

How to make thousands by only working a few hours a week...

Offer special inside information to the public offering them information on how they can make thousands of pounds per year for only a few hours work. Charge them ONLY £50 for this, you only need 250 people to sign up each week, and you have made 250 * £50 = £12,500.

Who knows what the information is, but the person who is selling it makes a killing for himself anyway.

  • You can bet your life, if it seems too good to be true, then it is too good to be true. My cousin was made redundant and spent out literally hundreds of pounds on various home-working, internet schemes - not one of them was any good. No legitimate firm will take money from you upfront.
  • Yes, this is all true stuff. I can see what you are getting at here. It is a shame that there are still these companies out there who can get people to buy these 'info packs'. I have not bought one and will not buy one. Thank you all for your inputs.
    Have a Merry Christmas.......
