36 weeks pregnant at Xmas spending it alone with DH

After having two babies at 37 weeks and one at 36 weeks, I think you've made the right decision not to travel

I second all the suggestions of chilling out at home and just relaxing. Make the most of the rest now before baby arrives, as you won't get any for a long time afterwards!
If you want to do something special, is there anything gentle you could make for baby's arrival? It might be nice sitting making home made birth annoucement cards or putting the finishing touches to baby's room - that kind of thing. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks for the responses! So I guess the order of the day will be relaxing, eating and watching TV - doesnt sound too bad! I just felt like I wanted to make it a bit special for DH cos he likes all the fuss around Xmas - but he's going to have a baby on the way so I think he'll be OK.
Hope the baby comes in the new year though - guessing they have a skeleton staff over Xmas in hospitals?0 -
I wish we had space for a baby room Becles! Currently trying to sell our one bedroom flat but the way the market is I dont think thats going to happen so cot's going to be next to our bed - should be fine for the first few months I think... hope.0

I was obviously in hospital over xmas. It really isn't that bad althiough I was in labour when they served christmas dinner so can't comment on that all I got after giving birth was a measly sarnie (turkey and cranberry may I add)!!!
There seemed to be plenty of staff on when I was in but might not be the same in all areas!!
I even ended up in the paper for having an xmas day baby!!Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
Another one saying 'do nothing!'. Have a lie in, stay in PJs, leisurely bath/breakfast, watch crap TV, eat chocs and put your feet up.
I was about 35 weeks pregnant last Christmas, unfortuantly i was up at 6am with 2 very excited little boys lol. Its going to be *mayhem* here this christmas
Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0 -
I'm going to be 39 weeks & 2 days this xmas.
I am really really hoping to have already popped by then, but we've booked to go to the pub
It's a lovely gastro pub only 2 minutes from our house (or 5-10 with pregnant waddle), as I refuse to cook anything, or indeed have the kitchen made messy. Normal cooking will just about be allowed, but no Xmas dinner bombsites please!
Sadly, the staying in bed & relaxing bit is out of the window as this in no.3, but perhaps I might get an extra hour if we put a video on for them.
As for the hospital staff, I've asked, the midwives don't get time off at xmas

Lucky you! I'll have a 2 week old by then, so no lie in for me...... Mind you, was never going to happen with the other kids at home!
I vote for a lie in. Duvet on the sofa, junk food, rubbish on TV and a general slobbing day. And get OH to cook the Turkey.0 -
i was the same a few years ago and i went mad and cooked a full xmas dinner for 7!! i even kept getting the huge turkey out the oven on my own (much to my mums distress!!) and i have to say i loved every minute of it. though in hindsight and now with 2 kids i would sell my soul to the devil to have some one on one time with my husband.
good luck and the 18th of jan is fab date for a baby!!0 -
i was in the same situation many years ago......and the baby came on December 20th so be ready, just in case.0

I was pregnant for xmas 2006 although only about 10 weeks we knew it would be our last xmas together for a long time so we just relaxed, watched lots of dvds and xmas tv, and ate lots of yummy food making the most of our time together.0
