Free Visit to Father Christmas!

  • Father Christmas is free in Aylesbury too.... in the Friars Square shopping centre. He spent ages talking to my two.. it was lovely. They get a sash with a bell on as a gift, but my two would have been happy getting nothing as they enjoyed talking with him so much! :snow_grin The queues are very short and it's well worth it!
  • We went last monday. They estimated waiting time at three and half hours. My husband siad he would queue whilst I shop, proplem though our phones would not work in the store for some reason so he could not tell me "when to hurry back!).Ended up queueing for one hour and 50 mins. our son engoyed the whole experiance and was so much better than any of the Father Christmas's in both ipswich and Colchester in prevoius years.

note: a couple of people I know thought we were mad for going to london "just to see santa".
But, we drove to Newbury park, paid £2.50 to park for the day, about £7.60 for a family day ticket on the underground. Then spent the rest of the day "in search of christmas lights and went to Deep Pan Pizza (which have all you can eat for about £6 adults/£3.50 child, but unlike Pizza Hut that have time constraints on there offer this is all day)

I know I live this side of the country and also got a few bits whilst at Harrods, but I think it is quite a reasonable day out cost wise.
  • Did the annual trip to Harrods - waiting time 1hour 20 minutes (would have been less by the look of the queue after lunch).

As son decided he didnt like father christmas again this year - so no photo (I was thinking of buying it this year but he saved me the £10). The Teddybear band was his favourite part of the afternoon - that and the tube journey home. He also had a lovely time looking at all the giant cuddley toys, playing with the brio train set in the toy department. The book is lovely - and the gingerbread men are fantastic. I had fruit and sandwiches to keep us all nourished - so all in all a cheap day out. (free except for the travel)

    Thank you Mo.

Went tonight, straight after school. Queded, qued, quueed, lined up for about 1 3/4 hours but unlimited free water, gingerbread men and character jelly lollies. Santa was superb, looked great and listened well, no rush and a quality free gift (the book retails at £5.99). Bought the photo as a four pack (same price, one sheet with 4 smaller photos) so all grandparents/aunties can have one as well!
    Great post, thanks.
