Student loan arrears

Ahh, the Student Loan Company have been writing to me at the wrong address for the last few months (despite me giving them my new one when I moved). I apparently owe them arrears since April and they want paying in one go.
Do you think I should write to them offering to pay an increased payment on my subsequent repayments to cover the missed payments? Are they likely to accept this kind of thing or am I going to have to wait until court action? Also does having arrears on student loans have an impact on credit ratings?

Yes - if you lay it out clearly that the one-off payment isn't possible and show how much extra you can pay per month they are often reasonable. After all they are getting the money without having to pay court fees etc. Also does having arrears on student loans have an impact on credit ratings?
I can't answer this - but are they on your credit file at the moment? Mine don't show at all.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0
