Traditional English Christmas Dinner

My wife and i have a group of friends and every year we take turns to do a big Christmas dinner. This year it's our turn to entertain :eek:

I would like to do a twist and serve up a real traditional English Christmas dinner.

Example: I believe Goose is the traditional bird to serve rather than Turkey which is an American idea.

Does anyone know of any other traditional things missing from our plates. Maybe a good old fashioned recipe for stuffing or maybe something made with Barley or Berries.

I'm open to any ideas as long as they are English olde style.

    The thing that springs to mind is 'boar's head' see here.The other thing you could do which is a bit more achievable is to make real mincemeat for your mince pies. That is, mince meat containing minced meat. This site looks worth a read.

    I often cook goose at Christmas precisely because it more traditional. If you search this forum you should find some tips on cooking it.

    you could stuff the goose with spiced apples and prunes and maybe make your own bread sauce - anyway enjoy!!

    I can't even get hold of oxtail round here ATM I'd have no chance with a Boars head!!!

    Oh I'm sorry I have to draw the line somewhere and this is it.I couldnt possibly eat Pigs head for Christmas Dinner!

    If you want traditional you want the Roast Turkey that is stuffed with four smaller birds each inside each other.This particular dish dates back to Elizabethan times and much more palatable than a cooked animals head on my table on Xmas Day
