sky+ box

Hi
I'm looking to buy a sky+ box for my inlaws as Christmas/birthday present (they are already sky customers with a standard box) and wondering what is the cheapest way to go about it. Do we have to go through sky or can you buy a box from somewhere else? (presumably sky have to fit it?) Any suggestions gratefully received!
Thanks

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0

Sky+ requires two inputs from the satelite dish and can't, therefore, be substituted simply for the old box. Whilst you can get a local independant installer to do this work I'd advise against it and go to Sky instead as there is the possibility of having to pay an additional subscription charge (it all depends what package your parents are on).
A box upgrade will cost £75 if you take out multiroom or broadband max, otherwise it's £99.0
