My Grayshott Spa Break updated

Back in July, I posted my win from a SkySports comp which was a 2 night spa break at the very posh Grayshott Spa and tickets to the BlackRock Masters tennis championship.

Well, this weekend I took the spa break but they let us down a little. It was supposed to include accommodation in their best suite. However, we found ourselves in a room rather than a suite and there wasn't even a shower - at least there should have been one over the bath but, for whatever reason, it had been removed...

It took us more than 24 hours to get anyone to admit there had been a c*ck-up and any sort of an apology but never an explanation. The Duty Manager did confirm that there were other guests in the Tennyson Suite. We were supposed to get a call from the Manager today but nothing so far.

Anyway, I've prepared an email to the Manager (I'll give him till the end of today to make contact) telling him how disappointed and upset I am - mostly due to the lack of communication - asking for his comments and whether he thinks the situation was handled appropriately. I've also invited him to offer us what was promised at a later date. I'll also copy in the PR company who handled the comp.

No idea what the response will be but I really do feel we weren't treated very well.

And a further update....

I just got a phone call with an explanation which, frankly, sounded a little contrived. However, he did apologise for the mistake and when I asked what he felt he should do, he felt his way through the conversation, giving in each time I asked for a little more recompense. Eventually we agreed on a two night break next May (that's OH's birthday taken care of) in the Tennyson Suite with one night complimentary and the second at the standard room rate rather than the Suite rate and a further reduction of £30 toward the dogs' kennel fees. Result!!!
