HELP ! Endowment Buffoonery , I'm out of time

I’m hoping some one could help me with my endowment problem. I am one of the clinically insane 700,000 people who left it too late to claim for compensation. I have written to royal sunalliance using the template provided by Which? . But they replied saying I have left it far to late (8 months). I have passed both my 3 yr and 2nd letter 6 months dead lines, is there any hope for me?
Will the ombudsman touch me with a bargepole, I thought stupidity and /or not really knowing what to do is my best if not only defence?

Thanks for any help.

These deadlines have been set with agreement of the FSA so its unlikely.

If you have a very strong case you may have an alternative recourse through the Courts.

There is a six year time limit to bring a claim, I believe this would kick in from the date you received your first warning letter and that would be because there did not exist and you could not have been not aware of the problem prior to receipt of that letter.

THe Courts also have much stronger clout than the Ombudsman.
  • I'm in the same boat with FP. I have 2 endowments with them. They agreed to compensate the first but claimed the second was time barred. New legislation came in on June 2004 where providers must provide a date by when claims become time barred. Whilst it is not being applied retrospectively "Which" advise to submit another claim anyway on the basis of the new legislation which I have done with FP and its all gone quiet for the moment. "Which" also request that as soon as I know what FP response is that I let them know. I'll keep you posted but don't give up. ::)
