My OH had a problem with the crust being too tough on normal HM bread.I tried softening it under a teatowel and to a certain extent it worked. But when DD posted about the Pullman tin I thought it would be perfect and it is.It produces a wonderfully soft long loaf. That slices wonderfully and isnt too tall that you cant slice it on an electric slicer so you get loads of lovely even slices and it has a slightly denser texture than normal HM bread that makes the best sandwiches and toast ever!If you want good bread for Chip Butties and Toast this is the way to go

I got a breadmaker and was determined to eat nothing but homemade bread but I don't like homemade bread for toast and I love toast. Some days all I eat is toast :rotfl:
I've just read the thread about the pullman tin...sounds a bit complicated for me...do you just make the dough in the breadmaker then bung it in the pullman tin? Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Yes I make my dough in the BM and then shape it and plonk it in the pullman tin. Then I cover the tin with a carrier bag and let it rise to within about an inch of the top of the tin.I then put the lid on which has to be greased by the way. Then I put it into the middle of the oven at Gas 4 for about 1/2hr then take it out remove the lid and if its nice and golden brown its done.No more hassle than cooking bread in the oven in a normal tin and the finished product is much nicer

I made some quite successfully yesterday. (my kids are the same and the oh) What I did was made the dough for rolls in the breadmaker and then cooked the loaf in the oven.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

It's soul destroying isn't it!!!! I'm glad I'm not on my own. I just wish my kids had never had dinner at my friends house. She's lovely but her daughter won't touch pasta (only spaghetti hoops) or anything other than plastic ham sarnies. And my kids loved it. Aaarrggghhh! They're not going again..:p
I sold my BM on ebay when neither my OH and then 2 yr old would eat the bread! now buy whoospie bread! There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
I now have a Pullman loaf tin, and it's FAB! I did double quantity of enriched dough in the Panny and it seems ok, although my youngest left the crusts as she said they were crunchy... I oiled the pan with butter though, could this be why?
Also, if I use the enriched dough recipe but just miss out the eggs, is that just normal dough? I know it sounds a daft question. We're a bit low on eggs though as our chickens are only just gearing up again after the dark nights!
Many thanks for your replies everyone, and for bumping up the fab thread.
Btw I bought the Pullman tin for myself for my birthday. How sad is THAT?!!!0
