Moving abroad and letting out my house

Hello all,
In around 10 months time I am planning on doing some travelling for 12months. I currently have a mortgage, but in the current climate see it more sensible to let out my property rather than sell it.
Where do I get information regarding the letting process, any insurance/mortgage changes and also who would I get to manage the property in my absence from the country?
Obviously there is plenty of time until I go, but I want to get the ball rolling now.
Thanks in advance
Ben

Most lenders will be OK with you letting in this situation, as it is a valid reason to let.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You may have to put your furniture in store. Lettings agencies aren't too keen on letting out places furnished these days, in my experience at least.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Yes, I would get a good letting agent to manage for you.Re Insurances etc, I would get some good quality landlords insurance - you can get some that even gives protection against periods of vacancy, and legal support. Check to see if they would have any issues over an absentee landlord abroad.I would suggest you have a hedge against periods of unoccupancy, say 3 months worth of mortgage payments, set aside. Check any life insurance policies to make sure that, if needed, they will cover you abroad.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
