Hiya
This thread is to keep me motivated as i'm determined to pay this interest free credit card off by the time it's no longer interest free. We had the money to pay it off in a saving account but needed to get the roof fixed so used the money on the understanding we'd still pay this off and not pay interest.
I'm 'borrowing' one of Hypno's ideas (thankyou) and splitting it into manageable chunks of £50. So with monthly repayments set up from DHs salary I need to do as much work as I can to pay the rest off. The payment a day thread should help me big time.
So.....£3001.80 and going down!!! xx

Have you got your grid ready, with your £50 squares? It is THE most satisfying thing to colour them in!!! Hypno - that's too wierd...I just posted on your thread to say i'd borrowed your idea. My grid is ready....my pencil crayons are waiting:rotfl: xx0

Today i've closed two accounts that I've never got round to closing which has given me £100 to pay off the credit card. I paid an extra £1.80 off as I prefer round numbers! So that's two x £50 paid off, only another 58 to go!0

I've managed to pay another £50 off by doing some extra work and not buying things I didn't need (that book was calling me though!!!).
57 more to go! Suddenly that seems a lot when there's so much month left!!
I'm not going away at half term now so i'm going to try and get some extra work during the holidays. On top of that i'm not taking any form of payment out (cheques, cash etc) when I leave the house. If I really need something i'll have to come back and get money. I'm working a lot next week so that will help but I need to remember that I have to pay for Christmas so I can't bung everything at the card for the next two months! I need to try and get a bit of shopping done for christmas so I know how much to budget for that.
Time to stop rambling....it's funny how sometimes you feel on top of money and other times it starts to consume you! xx0 -
I've managed another £50 with the help of the payment a day thread. A fiver here and a fiver there has added up and i've just emptied my change jars and got another £5 out of them. So £2800 or 56 x £50 to go! xx0

Sounds better already, now you are under the £3k mark - just another 6 squares and you will be half way to the £2k mark.:j Good luck and am rooting for you all the way!!:TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

Thanks Turnaroundsue - i'm trying not to obsess about paying this off but it does start to take over. I'll definitely make 6 squares my next target.
This morning we received a letter from the CC with two blank cheques that offered to increase the amount on this card and keep it at interest free.....I've shredded the letter before DH sees it as I know he'd be tempted. I know it's interest free (apart from the 'arrangement fee' in small print) but it still has to be paid back!
Note to self....I must stop wishing this month away so I can make more payments when DH gets paid!0 -
What am I like.......!!! I spend all month wishing for the start of the next month so I can make some big payments and then it's a total anti climax as I see how much there is still left to pay. Must try and stay upbeat but I know there won't be much overpayment this month as I have to try and get the last few christmas presents, food for christmas etc.
Anyway, i'm managed another 11 of my £50 payments to start the month off. I'm hoping to do the same at the beginning of December. If I can also pay an extra £200 before christmas then i've hit my target of only having £1500 left on the interest free card.
So, how am I going to raise the £200 - It's my 40th in December and a few people have asked if they can give me money so i'm tempted to 'lend' any money I get to the card and then spend it when everything is paid off. I've a few horsey bits to sell as my children have given up riding and I have hats, body protectors etc to sell. If anymore clients phone up i'm going to add their payments to the debt too ... that might be difficult though as i've got to Saturdays off for courses. I can but try. Hope everyone else had a productive month paying off debts too.

Heya Mudbath!
I know what you mean about birthdays! It's my birthday on Wednesday and my family said they are gonna give me money but my dad made me promise I would not use it on the debts! It is hard though as I keep thinking there isn't really anything I want and just love the feeling of the cards coming down more than anything but a promise is a promise I suppose!
Good luck with your payments, that grid sounds like a great idea! xxx:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0 -
Thanks donner_kebab - I 'borrowed' the squares idea from Hypno and I get sadly excited about colouring them in:rotfl: . I'm the same as you with not really wanting anything for my birthday. Since joining MSE I have to really, really, really want something before I buy it. I've spent so long decluttering that I don't want any more clutter. :rotfl: . Saying that, when the card has gone then I will defintely treat myself to something with the money....i've lots of time to plan it!! Good luck cliearing your cards xx0
