Las Vegas weddings

please could anyone tell the their experiences of getting married in Vegas? :j

Comments

  • I can't - but I have been to Vegas and it's exceptionally easy.
We went over there in April, we were fairly recently engaged and I did look into it in detail but in the end, we chose not to.

You can quite literally get a licence and get married the same day. It's not expensive and it's entirely up to you where you go and how you do it. The majority of hotels on the strip have special wedding rooms and staff who literally deal with weddings and nothing else.

My partner was totally up for it until he realised a Las Vegas wedding would stand up here legally! He then declared 'it's tacky' and we're making plans to wed in Scotland next year. I personally would've been quite happy to wed in Vegas but it's not just my decision!

    There are several useful sites:

Hope they're of help to you.

    Hi
My husband and I got married in Las Vegas last december, we wanted a nice quiet and no fuss wedding. We spent about $3000 on the whole holiday. The wedding part only cost about $500 including rings! We got married on top of the stratosphere hotel where we were staying, We did it at dusk with the view of the beautiful Las Vegas Strip behind us! (I want to go back!)
I would definately recommend going for a couple of weeks so you can look at some places to see what would suit you. Some of the chapels are quaint while others seem quite cheesy, you can get married by an elvis impersonator! You can even get married in a drive thru!
When you go to get your license make sure you do it atleast the day before to allow time it took us about 2-3hrs cos we had trouble finding it and then the queues when we got there. You can easily find the building as there are so many people outside trying to get your wedding into one of there chapels, luckily we managed to slip out of the side door to avoid all the crowd again!
We had my husbands parents with us when we got married so we had a small wedding. we got our wedding picture as the pictures they take when you go up the tower, just like when you go to alton towers and your snapped on the ride, well we were snapped/imposed onto the front of the tower, and infront of the las vegas sign and over the strip, so we didn't have the cost of photographers too. I really enjoyed the wedding and haven't regretted doing it in Las Vegas.

Hope this helps, any other questions then please ask.

  • thank you! weve been to vegas before, back in 2005. We loved it and always planned to go back.
I was looking into a ranch wedding but I found a clip on the net and it looked awful.
we actually stayed in the strat when we went.
I read that you can sort you marrage licence out by post before you go? I think it cost a bit more but at least it saves time when you get there.

    Hi,
This is a link that i found very useful for the marriage license, i think you can only do it in person, but you can print froms off ready for when you get there, it'll save doing it once there.

  • Heh, we stayed in the Strat as well! I loved it there and absolutely want to go back. We're fortunate to have friends over there, so it made the whole holiday much better :D

When we were up the tower, a just married couple were having their pictures taken and didn't mind at all us taking a shot of them:

It's a stunning view, I'd be quite happy to get married at the Strat then watch the sun go down from the top of the tower.

We got hitched in the Little Church of the West 2 years ago. Oldest building in Nevada apparently, over 20 years old! - joke). Very easy, went day before to get marriage licence, cannot recommend enough.
I know its not for everyone, but we like Vegas and it worked for us. Lovely excuse to go back and renew our vows in the future ;)

This sounds exactly like the wedding I went to, so this post must have been made by my daughter in law!! Hi Kell!! :D

I would just like to add that the wedding was wonderful, and even more special as husband and I were the only guests. It made it very special for us. And lets not forget the tacky Photo frame that we just had to have.

And 1st wedding anniversary will be spent in Orlando, complete with in laws!! Will they ever shake us off?

We got married in Vegas in 2006. We were married in the Little Chapel of the Flowers. We had (what looked like) the tallest man in the world as our celebrant, I swear in all the pics & video it looks like he's standing on a stage but he wasn't he was just towering over us both (and my hubby is no shortie).
Our ceremony cost $200 and included a photo shoot afterwards, flowers, music, video, broadcast live on the internet (so all our friends & family all over the world could watch).
We hired a limo to take us from our hotel (Aladdin, now called Planet Hollywood) up to the chapel and then down to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign for a photo shoot, and then back up to the Venetian hotel, where we had our reception. Limo hire (3 hours) was $120. We had 5 guests plus ourselves, and at the Venetian in a beautiful little restaurant overlooking St Marks Square we had a private function room and 3 course meal for 7 people, including drinks cost us about $600 I think.
After our reception we took a gondola ride with my bridesmaid & her fiance, and then we walked all the way from the Venetian down to the Aladdin, stopping in at every casino for a drink on the way. Like a pub crawl :)
It was an absolutely amazing day, we had people buying us drinks and at one casino we got a round of applause, it was so much fun!!! Complete strangers wishing us well. Just a blast!!
I would definitely like to relive that day, and we're going back for our 5 year anniversary.
We're not big gamblers, but we looooooove Vegas!!!

We got married in Vegas a year ago on Monday and it was just amazing. The ceremony was in the Little White Wedding Chapel which is just as kitsch as you would imagine but we were treated really well and made to feel really special by all involved. The ceremony cost $55, $55 for the limo and whatever the license cost. We went at midnight 2 days before to sort that out and it was so easy.
We went with a few friends, got married then instead of having a wedding breakfast we went to the gun store and shot lots of different handguns, shotguns and semi automatics which was absolutely amazing.
I think its one of those places where whatever your hearts desire, someone can fix it for you. If you want bells and whistles in a place of your dreams, if you want simplicity and classic or if you want a full on Star Trek theme you can get it all.

From our point of view it was perfect because there was no fuss and bother and no stress about anything because they do this stuff so regularly it all goes like clockwork.
