Mini Christmas Puddings help

I want to make some little christmas puddings to add to my hampers. I found some little basins and muslin squares on lakeland though they seem quite expensive.

Has anyone adapted a recipe to make mini puddings I have only ever made 1 large one before.

Did you include instructions on reheating.? presentation wise I was thinking adding a cinammon stick and gingham ribbon.

Also does anyone know of bargain steamers pan I can cook them in. I used to use my mothers pressure cooker until it when catput..:(

amny thanks B:cool:

Delia has a recipe for mini xmas pud. It serves 4 but if your basins are smaller you can just divide it by eight maybe?

Not sure if the delia recipe is different to the original one I've posted below. I've used this recipe for the past 3 years and it's lovely. I've only made large ones though but does say at the bottom of the recipe will make 8 individual ones and how long to steam them for. The moulds she suggests for the individual ones are the same size as the lakeland set of four.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you very much for the link to the recipes. I looked on ebay for four little puddings they wanted £15.99 and 4.95 posting wow iI think mine are going to be cheaper. The compnay on ebay is called thepuddingemporium
( all one word ) The did do a nice little basket wil two in and a label attached which might have to borrow..lol.

I think the little pudding bowls might look better and I had a small brainwave of adding a minature bottle of booze to flame it with.

  • I found these heating instructions On Georgie Porgie website I`m going to see if I can find little pudding stickers/picture and stick on gift cardTraditional Christmas Pudding To Reheat:
Place pudding in a colander over a saucepan with boiling water and steam for 15 minutes.

    To Microwave:
Remove muslin and label. Unwrap the greaseproof paper and pour 1 dessert spoonfull of water over pudding, then rewrap the greaseproof paper and reheat for 1 minute on high setting.
Based on 750W microwave. Cooking times may vary.

Store in a cool, dry place for up to 18 months. Do not refrigerate.

  • Hi all

Does anyone know how long it takes to cook Delia's mini christmas puddings, in a slow cooker ?

Got mine in the slow cooker, but not sure how long to leave them - can only find ref to 2 pint puddings and leaving them on for 8 - 12 hours

My slow cooker seems to run at a high heat regardless of what setting I put it on - ie beef curry 4 hours and burns - LOL

    TIA
