No no no definitely not. The only time any allowance can be transfered between couples is if they are entitled to claim married couples allowance and to do that 1 of them needs to have been born prior to 6th April 1935.
If the private hire taxi is a partnership between both you and your spouse then you can allocate a larger proportion of the partnerships profits to her if her tax free allowance isn't being used up elsewhere. She would need to be registered as self-employed too. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I once had to do the accounts for a bunch of "Representatives"; funny thing they too did exactly the same number of private miles as each other.
Similarly a bunch of "Private Hire Drivers" used to get paid a net figure, a minor percentage of the work booked for them through a controller.
Most of them put down the net figure and ticked the box that read "less than 15K" or whatever it was (I notice that this year's paper return has got a bit more complex and expects "expenses" to be analysed).
Crooks? Well there always was a big fuss about who paid for the CRB check, especially when a customer demanded another right up to date one to demonstrate their "due diligence", to use a PC term.0
