Underwater Digital Camera

Anyone aware if such a thing as a low price underwater digital camera exists. I've seen 35mm ones but I'd rather have digital. I've seen various cases / bags to put normal cameras in but don't want to risk an expensive camera in one.
If I'm asking to for too much has anyone any experience with the cases / bags?
Thanks

hi ffym!
depends what you want to use the camera for. if you need to use it scuba diving, you'll need one that is watertight to more than 15ft. also, the protective case in the link above will not be watertight to the depth for diving.
i have seen waterproof camera's (digital) for under £50 on ebay, from ebay shops, think they may have been u.s. sites though, not sure. if you need any more help, ask me here or pm me. x"It is not uncommon for slight acquaintances to get married, but a couple really have to know each other to get divorced." - Anonymous0 -
Thanks, the only one I've come across is the Sony DSC-U60 for about £200. Only problem is that it states "waterproof to 1.5M" only. Doesn't seem a lot to me. Don't need it for diving at any depth just for splashing about in the surf or snorkling.0

Ive got the Canon Ixus 55 which does have a waterproof case. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00065L5TO/qid=1133850237/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl/026-6843581-0584409 but they don't go down to any depth. Not sure what you need it for.0

Most of Canon's and sonys and anda couple of other brands have specific cases for underwater use. Be aware though the cases alone are £100 minimum and I've NEVER found them cheaper (oh how I'd love too though!).
There is a budget solution though. There's a soft plastic pouch with a sealable opening and a clear peaice of hard plastic you can line the lens up with. It comes in different sizes, and it was around £30. Is only useful for shallower depths, but still went down to about 10m or so. Worth a look I'd say. The only downside is I can't remember the name of it (sorry!)

Hi
How deep do you want to take the camera. if you are just going snorkelling it may work out cheaper just buying a disposable camera.
if you are thinking about taking it scuba diving, you will need to have a casing which will go down to about 30 metres.
casings are normally more expensive than the camera itself. also there is a fair bit of maintance involved to make sure the casing doesn't leak. most modern canon digi cams will have a casing for the camera.
i have a pentax optio s5i with a casing for when i go diving. it works great, but you must look after the casing and the sealing."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0
