Equity Release is a big step to take and you sincerely need to seek professional advice on this, not all mortgage advisers are qualified to do ER but they will refer you to a specialist. This is very important as you need to discuss implications on means tested benefits, tax etc You also have to understand the full implications as their are several different types of schemes. A good place for you to start reading is SHIP Safe Home Income Plans (SHIP), they are not lenders however they have a code of practice for lenders who are members www.ship-ltd.org
  • Thank you I will certainly take your advice.
