Parent BR - effect on an adult child re student loan etc

Options
Just thought of something - with the prospect of me going BR soon.....

My daughter is doing her last year of A Levels and will be off to Uni hopefully from next year so will need to apply for a student loan etc.

Will me going BR have any impact on her financial position re student loan being refused to her etc? She does live at home so address is the same.

Any links for me?

Thanks a lot.

No, not unless you're are a guarantor.

Years ago if someone went bc it was a black mark against their address. This has now changed and goes against the actual person.Dx

Ive been told on these boards that even as a discharged bankruptee, you can still get a student loan, so your father being Bc is deffo not going to affect that. In fact a few weeks ago Im sure an Undischarged BC got a student loan (if i remember correctly).

Which is good news as I prob gonna be going back into education next year :-)

  • I am currently BR and my partner who is financially associated to me gets a student loan. My partner is also going BR soon and is still entitled to a student loan as they are not linked to BR or written off in it either so your child will be fine.

    Hope this helps
