Dried Fruit

Hello everybody, I'm now looking for various dried fruit please.
I want to take a bara brith or fruit loaf of some sort to take to Wales next weekend.
I've found the smartprice 500g packs;
Mixed fruit 40p
Raisins 54p
Sultanas 55p

But they don't do the currants on the smartprice range, the normal Asda ones are 75p which seems like a lot to me.

I guess I could do without currants?

I want to get through winter doing HM baking fuit breads and cakes as they're very comforting.
So if anyone knows where it's cheaper, I'd be grateful xxx

    Hi Barneysmom,

Have you tried www.mysupermarket.co.uk? You can compare supermarket prices there to see which has them cheaper.

I know it's an old thread so the info won't be current but this might give you some idea of where best to shop for dried fruit:

    cheapest place for dried fruit?

  • Personally I'd use a mixture of the three smartprice versions to make up the difference of currants.

My first post and on my pet subject. :D

Mixed fruit will be fine ;) I have made plenty of these using mixed fruit.
I adapt the fruit as to what I have in the cupboard at the time.
Always consider your actions wisely, think of others, do you really?

I love it, I have it on cereals too. And in my bread, though ham sandwich with raisins gets me strange looks
