Laptop - Argos Returns Policy?

I bought a laptop from Argos and the CD-Drive is not working. Can I take it back for a refund, or can I only do an exchange? I've read reviews online and decided that I want a different laptop now, so I am going to try and order one from Dell. Will Argos refund me or force me to exchange? I've had it 5 days and have got the receipt/box/manuals etc...

Thanks!

i see no reason not to have a refund if you have only had it 5 days.
and its not working properly. Just go in, explain and tell them thats what yuo want.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Sale of Goods Act, (SoGA), applies, if it isn't working then it is faulty and you are entitled to a refund within a reasonable time, and I would suggest that 5 days is certainly within reasonable, nothing to do with Argos returns policy, just exercising your statutory rights, it is up to Argos to prove that it is NOT faulty within the first 6 months under SoGA.

  • Thanks. I was just worried that, because it has been opened and used, they would only offer an exchange. That's not the case?
  • Also, does anyone know if I have to return it to the same Argos -- or can I take it to a different branch??

    Thanks

You would not know that it did not work if you hadn't opened and used it, so that is OK.

You should be able to take it back to any branch of Argos.
