Claiming tax back, and that £60

In the last tax year I had several jobs, mostly part time and also a period of claiming Job Seekers Allowance. I do not have all my P45s but can work out a rough amount of what I was paid and taxed. I've written a letter to claim my tax back, but am wondering whether I definitely need to send P45s because surely the tax office will have all that kinda information on their system anyway?

I earned roughly £3500 and was taxed about £250.

Also, I was working full time from February - May and then from June - now (different jobs) but I haven't had a £60 extra payment?

When you change jobs, you're supposed to give your P45 to the next employer - not keep it

Is your tax code BR by any chance?

I haven't kept them. I don't have them for several jobs (agencies being rubbish) and the ones I do have I didn't get until I had already started the next job so I filled in a form to say I hadn't got it most of the time. I've never been on emergency tax, my code is 603L.
  • When you get the tax reclaim paperwork they will wan't details of all employment, including individual details of pay and tax. probably quite difficult to be accurate without the P45s.
Also the £60 isn't an extra payment - its a change in tax code that may results in an extra payment depending on your details to date. If you are on 603l, you are on the correct tax code.

Is you code being applied on a cumulative basis or a week1/month1 basis? The current emergency tax code is 603L.
