Many Thanks for all your ideas, I have lots to think about, and I didn't realise there was a Special Occasions board so will definetely be checking that out too! With all your help, Christmas need not cost me a fortune, which is just as well because I haven't got it! But still want a special time for my family which you have made me see is acheiveable on a budget.

Just thought I would mention that last year Winchester had a lovely christmas fayre and ice rink in the grounds of the cathedral. It was on for a week or so and was really magical. Lots of lovely xmas stalls, food, lights and the ice rink made it really festive.
I took DD for a early evening visit and she loved it. Free to get in and walking around really did get us in the christmas spirit. I am fairly certain they are repeating again this year.
